Westmoreland County Chamber of Commerce Launches Chamber Leadership Academy

The Westmoreland County Chamber of Commerce is taking a bold step in supporting professional growth with the launch of the Chamber Leadership Academy. This newly established division is designed to enhance professional development, leadership training, and educational opportunities for both new and seasoned business professionals in the region.

Recognizing the ever-changing landscape of business, the Chamber is expanding its commitment to workforce development by formalizing a division solely dedicated to leadership development, education and training. This initiative will oversee and enhance the Chamber’s existing leadership and training programs, including:

  • Leadership Westmoreland – The nine-month adult leadership program, fostering community engagement and leadership growth.
  • Leadership Westmoreland Youth Academy – The summer high school leadership program, designed to develop the next generation of business and community leaders.
  • FUEL (Focus, Unite, Engage, Lead). – Young Professionals Group
  • Monthly educational and training sessions for both new and existing members.

Beyond these foundational programs, the Chamber is actively seeking a partnership with an accredited institution to offer high-quality training and educational advancement opportunities. These programs will equip professionals with essential skills in management, leadership, financial forecasting, decision-making, financial literacy, project management, and more—ensuring businesses have the tools they need to thrive in today’s evolving economy.

Lindsay Neary to Lead the New Division

Leading this initiative is Lindsay Neary, a dedicated Chamber team member with a passion for education and workforce development. Over the coming months, Lindsay will transition into this leadership role, overseeing the expansion and long-term vision of the Chamber’s Education Foundation.

Lindsay’s career with the Chamber began in 2023 as the Manager of Communications and Events, and in 2024, she advanced to the role of Director of Member Engagement and Business Development. With a background as a certified teacher and corporate trainer, she brings a wealth of expertise to the Academy. Her leadership will help create diverse and impactful training programs, from basic computer literacy and leadership development to strategic partnerships with higher education institutions—ensuring businesses stay ahead in today’s competitive market.

According to Dan DeBone, President/CEO of the Westmoreland County Chamber of Commerce, “Our members have consistently expressed the need for more professional training opportunities. This new division allows us not only to expand our current offerings but also to introduce new programs that address the real challenges businesses face today.” He added, “We are eager to evolve our Education Foundation to better fit today’s workforce needs. By adapting our programs, we will help both employees and employers gain the skills necessary for success in tomorrow’s business environment.”

As the Chamber Leadership Academy takes shape, Chamber members and business leaders can expect new programs, expanded resources, and additional details within the next 45-60 days. The Chamber encourages members to stay engaged and take advantage of the exciting opportunities this initiative will bring. In the meantime, the Chamber invites everyone to congratulate Lindsay Neary on her new role, which will be instrumental in advancing workforce and leadership development in Westmoreland County.

Grace Markum has been instrumental in facilitating Leadership Westmoreland and Leadership Westmoreland Youth Academy for the past ten years. She will continue to lead Leadership Westmoreland 2025 through its graduation in May and will also facilitate the Leadership Westmoreland Youth Academy in June. Throughout this transition, Grace will play a key role in ensuring a seamless integration of these programs into the newly established Chamber Leadership Academy.
