Westmoreland Cultural Trust (WCT) is the largest arts and cultural nonprofit in Westmoreland County and the Laurel Highlands. Since 1992, the Trust has served as a conduit for the arts, culture, and economic development by preserving historic properties, presenting live entertainment, and creating accessible community programs. WCT is the steward of several landmarks: The Palace Theatre, a beautifully restored 1,367-seat concert venue preparing to celebrate its Centennial in 2026; Greensburg Garden & Civic Center, a multi-use hub for the arts and civic life; and the Union Trust and Stark/James Buildings, which preserve Greensburg’s historic character while supporting tenants and Trust operations. Together, these spaces anchor cultural life in the region and keep history and creativity intertwined.
In 2024, more than 157,000 people attended WCT events and programs. From national touring acts at The Palace to family-friendly activities at GGCC and free public art initiative downtown, the Trust provides year-round opportunities for engagement. Signature programs include Art in the Alley, ArtsWalk, Wings Across Westmoreland, Rhythms of Summer, Petrifying Palace, Old Salem Market, the Wedding Expo, and the Achievement in the Arts awards. In 2025, WCT launched The Academy, an Education & Engagement department offering inclusive, professional-level training and mentorship programs such as Broadway to the Palace.
An independent study confirmed that WCT contributes nearly $13 million annually to the local economy and sustains more than 750 jobs. By attracting visitors, supporting small businesses, and elevating the region’s profile as a cultural destination, WCT drives both community pride and economic growth.
As a champion for creativity, history, and community, Westmoreland Cultural Trust continues to shape the region’s identity—honoring its past while inspiring its future. More details can be found at: www.westmorelandculturaltrust.org
