Adelphoi: Building Brighter Futures, Strengthening Our Community
The Westmoreland County Chamber is proud to honor Adelphoi as the September 2026 non-profit of the month.
Adelphoi is a nonprofit organization headquartered in Latrobe, dedicated to providing comprehensive services and support to children, youth, and families facing challenging circumstances. For more than 50 years, Adelphoi has worked with young people who may be experiencing abuse, neglect, behavioral or emotional challenges, involvement with the juvenile justice system, or difficulties in school and at home. The organization’s mission centers on providing outcome-based treatment and educational services that give children and families a foundation of hope for the future.
Through a broad range of unique services, Adelphoi’s programs are designed to meet young people at different stages of need. These services include residential programs, foster care and adoption services, community-based and in-home programs, mental health support, and educational opportunities. Its residential programs provide individualized care in therapeutic settings, while community-based programs work to support youth and families in their homes and communities whenever possible. Adelphoi also provides foster, kinship, and adoption services to help children find safe, stable, and supportive family environments.
Education is another important component of Adelphoi’s work. Through its educational programs in Latrobe and throughout Pennsylvania, the organization provides specialized educational support for students who may benefit from alternative or emotional-support programming. Adelphoi’s educational services provide students with individualized academic and behavioral support while helping them develop the skills necessary for continued educational and personal success. Adelphoi’s education programs graduate between 35 and 50 seniors each year.
In addition to its significant social impact, Adelphoi is an important contributor to the economy of Westmoreland County. With 750 total employees, and 440 in Westmoreland County alone, the organization is one of the county’s most notable employers and is recognized among Westmoreland County’s top 50 employers. These jobs span a wide range of professional and skilled positions, including youth counselors, teachers, therapists, caseworkers, administrative professionals, healthcare and behavioral-health staff, and management positions. The wages and benefits associated with these jobs support local households and contribute to economic activity throughout the county, while Adelphoi’s continued investment in training and professional development helps build the region’s workforce and attracts more professionals to our area. Adelphoi also brings outside funding into the local economy through its statewide network of programs and services, strengthening the organization’s broader economic footprint in the region.
From its headquarters in Latrobe, Adelphoi serves children, youth, and families across Pennsylvania and in neighboring states. The organization works in partnership with families, schools, counties, courts, and other community organizations to develop individualized solutions and help young people build the skills, stability, and support systems they need to move toward successful futures. Its combination of employment opportunities, professional development, community investment, and vital human services makes Adelphoi an important part of both the social and economic fabric of Westmoreland County.
Thank you Adelphoi for the important work you do for our children, youth, and their families. The services provided by Adelphoi help numerous people each year and is an extremely crucial part to enhance our overall society. Congratulations on September’s nomination for non-profit of the month!
